Question:
How does cartoon violence affect a child’s behavior?
Answer:
Many researchers suggest that youth who are prone to violent tendencies are likely to be more attracted to violent media and cartoon violence. It is important to recognize that repeated exposure to violence lessens ones inhibitions towards exhibiting the same behaviors. Since we cannot be with our children 24 hours a day, create teaching moments whereby parent observation can lead to positive communication and redirection of maladaptive behavior.
