How can I keep my negative feelings about men from affecting my sons?
It is important that a mother that feels less than positive about men attempt to resist the temptation of expressing these feelings around her children. Psychologically speaking, children can only be half of who they are with input from only one parent. In the absence of the other parent, children will often create fantasies about the absent one -- negative or positive. If a parent belittles the other or says less than favorable comments, the child may internalize this and it can become a part of the child's esteem.
