My 5-year-old daughter seems upset by my recent divorce and started wetting her bed. What can I do to help?
Following a divorce, children often exhibit signs of distress -- bedwetting is an example of one manifestation. It will become increasingly more important to reassure a child following parental conflict, separation and/or divorce. Reassurance can take many forms; however, attempts should be made to stabilize the child's home environment and normal routine as much as possible, attempt to involve the absent parent with the child for continued reassurance and role model healthy adult (mature) behavior. If the bedwetting continues, seek the advice and/or consultation of a helping professional."
