Expert Q&A

By Kate Cohen-Posey

How can I keep my child's siblings from teasing him about his bedwetting?

There are many suggestions for this sort of teasing in How to Handle Bullies, Teasers and Other Meanies. It teaches a comedic approach for handling teasing.

For instance, he could say, ôI thank you for trying to help me stay dry, and my bladder thanks you.ö Remember the goal is not to stop the teasing but to help victims feel better when cruel comments happen.

The same approach can be used in your home, but in addition, the teaser may have to recite the medical reasons why some people stop wetting at a later age than others."
