Introduction
Christmas 2002
Lets start with Christmas Eve. We went to Papa’s house for dinner and to exchange gifts with them and Aunt Ninny, Kelleigh, and the boys. You are forever asking Papa when he is going to get a DVD player so you can bring your movies over to watch. For whatever reason he does not want a DVD player and he keeps telling you that, which only makes you ask “Why?” Anyway, Daddy decided that since Papa always wants the same things for Christmas and he always knows what he is going to get we would try and trick him. He brought up the box from our DVD player and packed it with all of Papa’s gifts. We added some silly things for weight and he managed to package it so it looked just like a brand new DVD player. Caleb, we fooled him!! We fooled Papa! He looked just a little bit disappointed to see the box, and he wasn’t going to open it, until Daddy told him he had to make sure some special cables were included. He laughed when he saw socks and t-shirts in the box. (Just what he wanted!)
When we left Papa’s house we drove around our town and looked at lots of Christmas lights before heading home. Once we were home you and your sister opened your annual gift of new jammies from mom and dad. This year I couldn’t find any nice Christmas-y pajama’s and you ended up with some Veggie Tales jammies to wear that night. When everyone was all cozy in their new pj’s we sat down to read the Nativity story from the book of Luke and “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”. Then it was time to pick out cookies for Santa and put the carrots out for the reindeer. You, sissy, and daddy all went out to see if you could spot Santa and his sleigh in the night sky and when you came in you were certain that you saw Rudolph’s nose high above.
You were much more patient than I would have thought on Christmas morning. You came to wake me up at about 7:00 a.m. and you just sat on my bed and watched TV until about 7:20 when I finally climbed out of bed and together we woke sissy and daddy.
You were very pleased to find that Santa had known just what you wanted, even though you had only told him “Sponge Bob toys”. You opened a Hot Wheels track and said “Daddy, its just what you and me wanted!” There was also an ET talking toy, a Sponge Bob DVD, a Spiderman puncher, a transformer, and plenty more.
After a big breakfast of French Toast, eggs, and sausage you played with your new things until it was time to head back to Papa’s for lunch. When we came back we had a quiet night of playing with new things and we were all cuddled up in my and daddy’s bed by 9:00.
We had a very nice Christmas together, it was pretty quiet this year, but it gave us time to enjoy our time, and each other.
Merry Christmas Caleb!
Love,
Mom
