Shelly H's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

Introduction

There's nothing like a major move during the holidays to bring all other aspects of your life to a screeching halt.

I have missed doing my diary entries, but I seem to lose track of time every week and miss the deadline. Not this week!

I had promised more stories of thankfulness during our move, but I'd really rather forget all that now. Suffice it to say that spending so much time in close proximity to Aaron made it impossible for Bryan and I to escape that nasty stomach virus. It's not much fun sitting in a title office for two hours signing paperwork when you have a fever and haven't eaten in 24 hours.

We have moved into our big, beautiful house. Bryan has adjusted quickly to the new routines, teachers and classmates at his new school. Unfortunately, I was right about the preschool. There is no room for Aaron. In fact, there are 55 people ahead of us on the waiting list. On the good side, I was assured Aaron would most likely be placed in a class next year, as they choose students first by age then by placement on the list. The 4-year-olds are in greater need of kindergarten preparation than the 3-year-olds.

But that won't be until September. What am I going to do until then? Well, for right now I've enrolled Aaron in a gymnastics class. It's only for one hour once a week, and Hess only been going for three weeks, but he's already looking forward to it. Every day he asks if this is the day he's going to gymnastics.

I also found out the local library has started holding story time for preschoolers again on Wednesday mornings. Right now I'm filling out paperwork to join a neighborhood babysitting co-op. I'm hoping between those things Aaron will have a chance to meet and play with other kids his age, and I'll have more time to pursue my writing. No more missed deadlines -- I hope.
