Donna S's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

Introduction

We decided this year not to go overboard with gifts from Santa like we usually do. Even so, the kids still found a way to get entirely too much! Toys everywhere! As of today, all the toys are still in the living room. I cleaned out Michael's room yesterday and we have two huge boxes of toys that we are giving to Goodwill. There is also a box that I put in the attic of good toys I'd like to give to my brother and sister-in-law one day when they have a baby.

On Friday, December 22, we went with some friends of ours and drove through Angels in the Park. It's a Christmas light display. It was really neat. The kids enjoyed it. Afterwards we came back to our house and exchanged gifts. Michael got these slingshot rockets, Katie got the Silly Six Pins Bowling game, and Ashlee got a mood lamp craft kit.

On Saturday, we went to my brother and sister-in-law's house for a while. I wasn't feeling very well, so I spent most of the evening lying on the couch.

We go to my grandparent's house on Christmas Eve. The whole family was there. We ate, talked and had a great time. Around 9 p.m., the kids got antsy and wanted to go home. Michael was convinced that we might miss Santa if we didn't go home. Katie told him that Santa was "in China." :-) Richard ended up leaving with Ashlee, and Michael, Katie and I went home around 10 or so. Once we got home, Michael kept coming downstairs telling us that he couldn't sleep. All three kids were asleep by 11. I wrapped up a few last-minute gifts, took some Tylenol Cold and Flu and a handful of vitamin C, and went to bed.

We had a nice Christmas. Santa brought them almost everything on their lists. Katie was kind of a brat (and yes, we got it on video tape!) all morning. She was so funny. Our Christmas tree was in our dining room this year because my new furniture doesn't allow us to move the furniture around. The kids walked down and saw their stockings near the fireplace, but couldn't see the gifts because of the sofa. Ash and Mike knew where they were, of course, but Katie didn't. She sat down in front of her stocking, looked up at me all sad, and said, "I wanted a Barbie Resh Caster!" (a.k.a. "Barbie Cash Register") Michael and Ashlee told her that the presents were in the other room, so she relaxed and looked through her stocking. (Yes, she did get a Barbie Cash Register.)

After the kids opened their gifts, we got ready and went to my parent's house where they got more toys and some really cute clothes. We didn't get home until 10:30 p.m. from my parent's house.

The day after Christmas I did something I've never done before. I stayed in my pajamas all day (my new frog pajamas the kids gave me for Christmas!). I didn't feel well, plus my house was torn up from top to bottom. We cleaned house and played with some of their new toys. It was a lazy day.

Until next time.
