in Victoria, B.C., encourage families to put together a hamper for a family. The gift can include whatever you want to give to make Christmas special for a needy family. They offer the following as examples of what you and your family might include in your hamper:

  • Wrapped gifts for children
  • Wrapped gift for mom
  • A few Christmas treats, such as shortbread, chocolates and/or mixed nuts
  • A grocery store gift certificate to purchase a turkey and vegetables for Christmas dinner and to help provide basic food for the family for a couple of weeks
  • New toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.

Operation Christmas Child
Sponsored by Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child sends a message of hope to children in desperate situations all over the world during the holiday season. By filling a shoebox with goodies, gifts, school supplies, hygiene products and more, you can reach out to children who are suffering around the world.

In 2001, more than five million shoeboxes were collected worldwide and distributed to more than 95 countries to impoverished children. What better way to send the message of giving to your child this holiday season than to help another who is less fortunate?

Festival of Trees
An annual fundraiser that takes place in many different cities for many hospitals across the country, the Festival of Trees is always in need of volunteers. Decorate a tree with your child, and share the spirit of giving.
