Gobbles of Fun
Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids
By Kymberly Pratt
3. After you have secured the leaves, glue the pinecone to the bottom of the semi-circle shape to make the turkey's body. You might need a pipe cleaner to help secure it to the paper. You might also cut it in half so it makes it easier to attach.
4. If you have wiggle eyes at your home, you can glue them to make the turkey's eyes. If not, just draw and cut some out of paper. This piece of artwork will be heavy.
This turkey will look great sitting anywhere during the fall months!
You'll need:
- Tiny pumpkins
- Tempera paints
- Knife
- Marker
- Tealight candle
- Spoon
Here's what you do:
1. Place the candle on top of the pumpkin where you want it to stay and trace around it. Using the knife, cut around the circle, being careful not to cut it too deep. Scoop out the pumpkin just enough so the tealight candle will sit right in the top of the pumpkin.
2. Let your child paint the sides of the pumpkins and decorate them using paints. You can also embellish them by gluing buttons on them or by using stickers, pipe cleaners or sequins.
3. After the pumpkins are decorated and dry, place the tealight back in the pumpkin and light it. Make several and use them to decorate your Thanksgiving table, end tables or fireplaces.
