Men are amusingly simple beings, not to mention notorious creatures of habit. Instead of that sweater you think is so funky, give him a handful of high-quality white or gray cotton T-shirts, a comfy sweatsuit to wear on Saturday mornings or a few pairs of boxer-briefs (since most of his underwear is probably tattered beyond recognition anyway). Even a four-pack of white athletic socks will positively thrill him, because they're basic, practical, and, moreover, they communicate that you understand how intense his weekly pick-up games are. 6. Spend Zero
As much as we try not to stress about money, men can't help but keep a close mental watch on expenditures. Ironically, most guys are happy to spend lots of bucks on their sweethearts but get antsy about their partners returning the favor. "My first wish for Father's Day would be that my wife not spend anything on a gift," says Toronto dad Adam Perzow. As an alternative, try to come up with a gift that's homemade – ideally involving the participation of your kids. There are all kinds of no-cost things you can do for dad, from baking a chocolate chip banana loaf to putting on a special performance featuring all the stuffed animals. Want to see more?
