Have a Blue Christmas
December is the perfect time to focus on the color blue!
- It's time to celebrate Hanukkah, the festival of lights. With blue paint and popsicle sticks, your little one can make Star of David ornaments to hang in windows and on doors.
You'll need:
6 popsicle sticks (or craft sticks or tongue depressors)
Blue paint (Choose washable paint formulated for kids' use)
Paint brush
Glitter glue sticks
Non-toxic white school glue
Blue or white ribbonCover your work area with newspaper and your child with old clothes or a painting smock. Then, let your little one paint both sides of the popsicle sticks blue. Once the sticks are dry, help your child apply small drops of glue to the ends of three of the popsicle sticks, and then press them together to form a triangle. Repeat with the remaining three sticks. Finally, glue the triangles together so that one points up and the other points down. You have a Star of David! Once dry, let your child decorate the start using the glitter glue sticks, and hang up with ribbon.
- Decorate a Christmas tree with hand-painted ornaments in sparkling shades of blue.
You'll need:
Clear glass Christmas tree balls
Two to four tubes of acrylic paint in different shades of blue (for sparkle, be sure to include at least one metallic)
Ribbon, if desired
