Sunny Day Crafts

Escape the Heat With Summertime Crafts

By Kymberly Pratt

Pages:  1  2  3

You'll need:
Old hats from Dad
Different colors of yarn
Hot glue
Foam sheets
Scissors
Old sheet from a bed

Here's what you do:
Pick out one of the hats and create a new character by hot gluing on some yarn for his hair. You could also decorate the hat by cutting out some pieces of colored foam and gluing them on. Another idea is to glue on some ears, or maybe braid the yarn for pigtails and attach with hot glue. Repeat with several hats, making them all different. You could make boys, girls, animals, etc.

Next, hang a sheet to serve as a stage. Then, invite some of your child's friends over and let them put on a play using the different character hats. Or have a rock concert! Another idea is to have your child act out her favorite storybook, either by memory or read it aloud to her.

Rockin' and Rollin'

You'll need:
Old stones or rocks
Paint
Cotton swabs
Paintbrushes

Here's what you do:
Clean the stones by washing them off with soap and water. Let them dry before painting. When dry, help your child use the cotton swabs or paintbrushes and paint the rocks. They can be solid, multi-colored, or paint on animals, flags, faces or flowers! When done, allow them to dry.

Paint a bunch and let your child keep them in a pretty wooden bowl on the coffee table. You could also make up games using the rocks.
