Festive Table Crafts
Bring a Homemade Touch to Your Holiday Feast
By Laura M. Johnson
An adorable addition to your holiday table!
You'll need:
- 2 cardboard toilet paper rolls or 1 cardboard paper towel roll
- Scissors
- Green poster paint
- Paintbrush
- Glue
- White and red buttons of various sizes
- Newspaper
- Masking tape
Here's what you do:
Cut the cardboard rolls into 1 1/2-inch rings. Lay newspaper flat on your work surface, and tape the rings to the newspaper to stabilize them. Have your child paint the outside of the rings green. Let the paint thoroughly dry. Remove the tape from the rings, roll them over, re-tape them to the newspaper and have your child paint the other side green. Let the paint thoroughly dry.
Apply dots of glue to the surface of the rings that is facing up. Have your child press buttons into the glue. When the glue has dried, remove the tape from the rings and roll them over. Remove the tape from the rings to the newspaper and apply dots of glue to this side of the rings. Have your child press buttons into the glue. Let the glue dry and then insert festive napkins into the rings. Makes four rings.
